Podcasts
Similar to a radio or TV broadcast, a podcast is a "web broadcast" of syndicated content from a website that can be downloaded and enjoyed anytime on your computer or a device like an iPod. There are audio podcasts that are similar to a radio show, or video podcasts. Episodes are a series of similar podcasts. Subscribing to a podcast, known as podcasting, will allow your computer to automatically download the podcast as well as new updates/episodes.
What do I need to hear podcasts?In order to receive podcasts, you will need podcast subscription software. The popular iTunes program is available for downloading at no charge for Mac and PC at www.itunes.com. You will be able to listen to podcast audio from your computer, provided it has a sound card and can play MP3 audio files. You may also transfer podcasts from your computer to a portable media device such as an iPod.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?To subscribe to a podcast listed below, right-click [POD] link (or Control-click in MacOS) and select "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut." You may then paste the link into your podcasting software. In iTunes you can find this option under the "Advanced" menu as "Subscribe to podcast." Once you've subscribed, new episodes are automatically downloaded into your Podcast folder for you to listen to at your convenience.
